Synopsis

Left behind in Hueco Mundo, Rukia is cornered and out of options against the towering Cero Espada, Yammy. Then Ichigo appears, subtly changed and noticeably stronger after his brutal duel with Ulquiorra. Shrugging off Yammy's assault, he pulls Rukia to safety with ease. Then, to finally strike down his greatest and strongest enemy, Aizen, Ichigo sets off alone for the battlefield of the real Karakura Town where his comrades are making their stand. A volume that swings the story decisively into its climax.

Yammy swells to a colossal size in his rage and boasts the highest numbers of any Espada, but the wounded Byakuya and Kenpachi take him down together, bringing the Hueco Mundo chapter to a close. Meanwhile, in fake Karakura, Aizen cuts down the Soul Society's captains one after another, flaunting overwhelming power. Yamamoto breaks free of the Black Coffin to challenge him and falls short, and just as despair settles over the field, Ichigo finally returns from Hueco Mundo, descending in dramatic fashion. He lands a blow at Aizen's throat, steering the battle decisively toward the confrontation between its true leads. The signal for the Arrancar arc's final showdown has sounded.
