Synopsis

The struggle for the Master and Queen titles finally reaches its fourth match. The weight of losing the third round presses down on Shinobu and Arata, and Arata in particular can no longer picture himself winning, facing the cards in a kind of pain he has never known. Then, of all people, Taichi — the friend he thought he had drifted away from — appears before him. On the grand stage they all once dreamed of, the three childhood friends Chihaya, Taichi, and Arata stand together again, and a decade of feeling resonates at once. Volume 47 strides boldly into the story's climax.

Still shaken by his third-match defeat, Arata cannot recover his image of victory and nearly drowns under Master Suo's pressure. But when Taichi — who was supposed to have stepped away from karuta — shows up at the venue, a fire is lit in Arata's heart again. The simple fact of the three childhood friends standing in the same place reawakens the "love" he had begun to forget. Shinobu, too, tightens her game with a Queen's pride, and the fourth match tangles into an all-out clash of wills.
