Synopsis

West Tokyo fifth round, summer, a marquee matchup: Ichidai Sansho versus Yakushi. Holding ace Sanada in reserve, Yakushi starts freshman lefty Tomobe, and Ichidai Sansho's lineup led by cleanup Hoshida launches an all-out assault from the first inning. The key rests with each side's pillar: genius pitcher Mitsusei Amahisa and genius hitter Raichi Todoroki. A spotlight clash where talent strikes sparks against talent begins here, and the path to the summit that awaits Seidou comes into view.

Yakushi holds Sanada back and starts Tomobe, but Ichidai Sansho's lineup, anchored by cleanup Hoshida, gets to Tomobe early and takes the lead. Genius hitter Raichi Todoroki, however, sparks the counterattack with a gutsy blast, and Yakushi claws back. The clash of talents between Amahisa and Todoroki turns into a tense back-and-forth. Sanada finally takes the mound and the game enters its second round. As Seidou gauges the strength of a future opponent, the outcome stays unreadable to the end and carries over into the next volume.
