Synopsis

Rattled by the Second Kira, the task force — on L's suggestion — brings Light in as an official collaborator. There Light decodes the hidden meaning in the Second Kira's message to a TV station and deduces that this rival possesses "eyes that read a name from a face alone." To bring the reckless newcomer under control, Light secretly plots to make contact — even as L's suspicion once again turns squarely upon him.

The Second Kira is idol Misa Amane, whose Shinigami Eyes let her kill without ever needing a name — the most dangerous player of all. Light reaches her through coded messages, and the two draw close over the notebook and Kira. Misa sees at a glance that Light is Kira and, smitten, becomes his devoted pawn — though Light reveals a cold streak, ready to discard her once she's served her purpose. Meanwhile L traces the contact to its core and casts his surveillance net over both Light and Misa, plunging the three-way game into fresh tension.
