Synopsis

Case Closed volume 35. The "Golden Apple" arc carried over from the previous book reaches its climax, at last revealing the full picture of the large-scale case around a jewel. In "The Haunted House Mystery," the Detective Boys encounter eerie phenomena in an aging mansion, and Conan exposes the man-made trick behind the terror. Then "Mitsuhiko Vanishes" grips readers with the tense disappearance of a friend. The volume closes as the new "Death Island" chapter begins, with Ran collapsing during a meal and tracing old memories through fading consciousness—one of the series' most suspenseful books.

⚠ Spoiler warning — tap to reveal
In the Golden Apple arc, the culprit's elaborate jewel-heist plan is utterly shattered by Conan's observation and quick thinking. The haunted-house phenomena are not supernatural but a human contrivance to guard a secret sleeping in the mansion, and the trick of light and sound is unraveled. In the Mitsuhiko arc, the Detective Boys' resourcefulness and Conan's deduction combine to rescue him from a near-kidnapping. In the closing Death Island, Ran's memories after collapsing link to a grave past event and hint at foreshadowing tied to her bond with Shinichi, as the story plunges toward the next volume's remote-island case.
