Synopsis

Frieren heads north with Fern, and their journey toward Aureole, the resting place of souls, doubles as a pilgrimage along the very roads she once traveled with Himmel's party. In a village along the way they meet Stark, a timid young warrior and the apprentice of the fighter Eisen. Stark fled in fear of slaying a dragon, yet Frieren and Fern try to bring him into their group. As memories of the past overlap with new encounters, Frieren's journey grows livelier step by step.

Stark believes himself a coward, but when the crimson-scaled dragon Aokubi attacks the village, he stands his ground trembling and cuts it down without retreating a single step. It is a standout scene showing that true courage is facing fear while still carrying it. He joins Frieren's group, bringing the party to three. The exchanges between the young Fern and Stark grow, and a new journey that echoes the old hero's party begins to take shape. Flashbacks also depict a reunion with Eisen.
