Synopsis

Overpowering the attacking great Buddha and destroying every last one of the fearsome statues, Hanbei's group finally breathes in relief, believing the mission over and their return home at hand. Yet time refuses to move forward. It is not over. One statue thought destroyed reveals its true form: a boss-class Thousand-Armed Kannon, arms spread beyond counting. Against that pressure, the battle-hardened Raizo quietly readies his blade and charges in.

The Thousand-Armed Kannon sweeps every direction at once with countless arms, a monster on a different level from anything before. Raizo steps forward alone, pulling the others back to buy time. Knowing he cannot win, he risks his body to leave Hanbei's group a thread of a strategy. His reckless swordplay severs the arms one by one, searching for where the core lies. In time Raizo takes a fatal wound, but through his death Hanbei discerns the weak point. Carrying what the veteran left behind, the next blade comes down.
