Synopsis

Torn over whether to live as a woman or a man, Kyubei confesses her wavering heart to a roadside fortune-teller. Moments later a flash tears across the sky, and an unprecedented catastrophe strikes: Kyubei and every single resident of Kabuki district have their genders swapped. Gin, Kagura, Hijikata and every familiar face flip into their opposite, throwing the whole town into chaos. The gender swap is blamed on a mysterious flash, per Sorachi-sensei, but the real core of the uproar is Kyubei's earnest question of how to live. Having grown up dressed as a man, Kyubei re-examines her sense of self while caught between a female and a male body, hiding a genuine coming-of-age story beneath the nonsense.
