Synopsis

A reunion at last, achieved on the distant land of Sakhalin. Sugimoto, Asirpa, and Shiraishi share joy and relief as they take their next step. Where will the will Kiroranke left behind, and the heart of Ogata stranded on the battlefield, each end up? The stage shifts back to a scramble in earnest, and a guerrilla war erupts on the snow between Hijikata's crew and the 7th Division. Leaving Sakhalin behind, the group returns to Hokkaido, and the scramble for the gold takes on the shape of its final phase. After Kiroranke's death, the revolutionary ideal he entrusted and the fate Asirpa carries are thrust forward anew, while Ogata chooses his own path as a lone wolf who sides with no one. The snowbound battle between Hijikata's crew and the 7th Division becomes a clash of wits and nerve, and Koito's past arc depicts the source of his loyalty, revealing the magnetic pull of the man Tsurumi. The balance among the three factions over the gold begins to crumble, and the board is swiftly set for the all-out war of the next chapter.
