Synopsis

Sergeant Fuji, who pairs the looks of a starlet with the guts of a gorilla, is a runaway favorite. Now running as a police-box duo, Kawai and Fuji's daily grind stays loud but real. Volume 2 slips sharp truths between the laughs: the absurdity of emergency calls, the blurry line between victim and offender, and the weight of the responsibility that comes with the uniform. From a former officer, it's Japan's most true-to-the-beat cop comedy. (Note: labor law is only "partially" applied to police officers.) Even that grim aside is flipped into a punchline here.

Under Fuji's guidance, Kawai slowly develops "a cop's eyes." Through domestic-violence calls and shoplifting cases, she learns that justice is rarely a simple choice between two options. It's hinted that the harshness behind Fuji's judgment of men stems from bitter past romances and investigations. Her connection with community officer Maki begins to move, thickening the station's web of relationships. In the finale, Kawai saves a citizen on her own judgment for the first time and earns Fuji's quiet respect. It's the turning point where she shifts from "rookie who wants to quit" to "a partner worth having."
