Synopsis

Pulled from modern Tokyo into the Warring States era by the Shikon Jewel, Kagome travels alongside the half-demon Inuyasha, gathering the shards of the shattered jewel. In Volume 21 their journey is no longer a simple treasure hunt: the shadow of their enemy Naraku grows heavier with every clash. Inuyasha's party faces fresh demons and Naraku's incarnations while the tangled bonds of Kikyo, the cursed Wind Tunnel in Miroku's hand, and Sango's painful past pull the group deeper into a war of both blades and hearts.

Naraku spawns a new incarnation to hide the weak point that is effectively his heart, toying with Inuyasha's group. Kikyo senses his scheme and moves on her own, stirring old feelings between her and Inuyasha again. The poison seeping into Miroku's Wind Tunnel exposes just how close the curse is to killing him. When Kagome's arrow pierces the miasma, the story's true engine — the corruption and purification of the Shikon Jewel — comes sharply into focus, laying down the threads that drive the final act.
