Synopsis

As the feud with Naraku deepens, Inuyasha's group closes in on the remaining shards of the Shikon Jewel and the truth hidden within the jewel itself. In Volume 24 Inuyasha's blade, the Tessaiga, evolves further, awakening a new power able to break through Naraku's defenses it could never pierce before. Kikyo's fate shifts dramatically and Kagome's heart wavers with it. The companions throw themselves into their own battles, marshaling all the bonds and techniques they have built for the sake of victory. The story tilts headlong toward its climax in a tense installment.

Here the Tessaiga unleashes the Red Tessaiga, tearing through Naraku's barrier of miasma armor, and Inuyasha lands his first solid blow on Naraku's true body. Cornered, Naraku loses his form and flees, and Kikyo seizes the opening to attempt purification — only to be gravely wounded in return. Kagura hardens her will to rebel against Naraku, hinting at an uneasy alliance with Inuyasha's group. Kagome takes Kikyo's feelings to heart and quietly grasps her own role. The path to defeating Naraku grows clear, and the shape of the final battle emerges.
