Synopsis

Driven mad by the runaway Tao and the release of their egos, Gabimaru and Chobei rampage like beasts, until the desperate calls of Sagiri and Toma bring them back to their senses. As the tangled battles wind on, the true aim of the Tensen is gradually revealed. Chobei aligns himself with the Tensen, while Gabimaru joins the other landing party to seek a chance to escape. Then a fresh subjugation squad from the shogunate makes landfall, stirring new turmoil into an already chaotic Horai. A romantic ninja-action tale that gazes upon life and death, Volume 7.

⚠ Spoiler warning — tap to reveal
Having regained their sanity from their berserk state, Gabimaru and Chobei part ways. Chobei sides with the Tensen for his own ends, while Gabimaru reunites with Sagiri, Yuzuriha and the others, moving with an eye on both escape and seizing the elixir. This volume hints at the Tensen's designs concerning immortality and at traces of the humanity they once possessed, giving them a backstory that goes beyond mere monsters. A new group of executioners and convicts also lands, rapidly redrawing the balance of power. It is a pivotal volume that sends the story tumbling into the all-out war of its middle stretch.
