Synopsis

The stage shifts from the battlefield to the Qin capital of Kanyou. Through the scheming of Chancellor Ryo Fui, Ri Boku, one of Zhao's Three Great Heavens and the strategist who buried Ou Ki, appears right in the heart of enemy territory. With the ache of Shin's costly battle still fresh, the political struggle against the Ryo Fui faction intensifies above King Sei. In a volume where intrigue, not force, becomes the main front, the unexpected proposal Ri Boku puts forward begins to shake the balance of power across China.

Ri Boku appears in Kanyou and, in talks with Ryo Fui, floats a proposal amounting to an alliance with Qin. Shin rages at the sight of the man who slew Ou Ki standing boldly on enemy soil, but Sei coolly measures the caliber of the monster that is Ri Boku. Ryo Fui's power grows and his rivalry with Sei's faction sharpens. From here the story pivots from war alone toward the palace power struggle over Sei's grip on the throne, cementing a structure in which the two great strategists, Ri Boku and Ryo Fui, stand in Sei's path.
