Synopsis

The general Ou Ki acknowledged carves out his true worth on the battlefield in Volume 20. Facing the Battle of Sanyou as a new Thousand-Man Commander, Shin and the Hi Shin Unit are driven into a desperate fight by the wily schemes of Gen Bou, one of Ren Pa's Four Heavenly Kings. To break the deadlock, Kan Ki, the vice-general of Mou Gou's army and a mysterious commander of uncanny talent, at last casts off his veil. Kan Ki's debut-level rampage, rewriting the battlefield with ruthless tactics that defy all common sense, dramatically shifts the tide of the Sanyou campaign.

As the Hi Shin Unit is cornered by Gen Bou's seasoned traps, vice-general Kan Ki unleashes his own brutal and unconventional tactics, outwitting and crushing Gen Bou. Shin and the others recoil at the rule-breaking generalship even as they marvel at the overwhelming results. The bottomless nature of Kan Ki, a future candidate for Great General, is stamped powerfully into the story here. With one of Ren Pa's Four Heavenly Kings fallen, the Sanyou battle tilts in Qin's favor, and Shin too grows another step as a new Thousand-Man Commander, as the tale accelerates toward the clash with the next Heavenly King.
