Synopsis

In 235 BC, Qin and Wei forge an unprecedented alliance bound to a three-year limit and set out to seize the strategic Chu fortress of Shukoku. Guarding it are four commanders who reign over the stronghold, their defenses far from easy to break. Under the command of Wei's Great General Wu Fengming, the allied army places Qin's fearsome warriors Mou Bu and Tou at the spearhead in a bid to smash through the front. Under Wu Fengming's cunning direction, Mou Bu and Tou hammer at Shukoku's walls with sheer force, and the allied army gradually presses the front forward. But the disturbance inside the Shukoku army proves to stem from internal power struggles and clashing ambitions among its commanders, and that fracture becomes the key to the whole engagement. Wu Fengming refuses to let the opening slip, revealing his true colors as a coldly calculating strategist. Just how long the fraught partnership between rivals Qin and Wei can hold, and the weight of that three-year deadline, will quietly come to bear in the volumes ahead.
