Synopsis

Ranma Saotome — a girl when splashed with cold water, a guy again with hot — still gets no peace in Volume 17. The centerpiece is an absurd martial-arts tournament and a rival's scheme to pry Ranma and Akane apart during it. Ranma exploits his girl form to wriggle out of tight spots, but his real feelings leak through the moment he shields Akane mid-fight. The Kuno siblings' rampage ends in self-destruction as usual, and Shampoo's single-minded assault fizzles again. Winning changes nothing about the curse, and Ranma and Akane trade insults yet somehow end up walking home side by side. With no one able to be honest, daily life spins right back to normal.
