Synopsis

Having welcomed the royal-blooded Zeke and secured the conditions to trigger the Rumbling, Eren's side holds ultimate power in hand. Yet the military cannot shake the fear that Eren is being mentally manipulated by Zeke, and grows wary of letting the two meet. Detaining the volunteers who came from Marley only tightens the tension across the island. The rift between hardline Eren supporters and leaders who seek survival through diplomacy deepens, and some soldiers and citizens simmer with discontent. When the suppressed conflict finally reaches its limit, Eren acts alone, consulting no one. Shadows of infighting and betrayal creep in, and the island stands at its most dangerous crossroads—one that could collapse it from within.

Fed up with confinement and surveillance, Eren finally breaks out of his cell and forcibly slips free of the military's control. His bid to reach Zeke shakes the island and brings the sympathizers known as the Yeagerists into the light. Meanwhile, underground, a scheme using Zeke's spinal fluid advances, entangling with the volunteers' designs. Eren hurls cold words at Mikasa and Armin, deliberately cracking the bonds he had built with his comrades. The meaning of the "freedom" he long believed in is called into question, and as former allies turn their guns on one another, tension builds toward the eve of a decisive civil war.
