Synopsis

Inside the walled, verdant facility, Tokio remains haunted by the cryptic message: "Do you want to go outside the outside?" Meanwhile, in the ruined world beyond, Maru and Kiruko press on with their survival journey in search of "Heaven." After fending off a band of attackers, the pair follow a lead to a place called "Tomato Heaven" — only to discover it is not the paradise they sought. "Tomato Heaven" turns out to be nothing more than a settlement that grows tomatoes, not the true "Heaven" they seek. This volume expands on the biology of the Hiruko, hinting that the monsters don't merely attack people but can take over human bodies and multiply under certain conditions. The mystery around Kiruko deepens, suggesting her body and memories may not originally be her own. Back at the academy, Tokio and best friend Kona grow closer, as adolescent feelings begin to bloom even within the sealed paradise.
