Synopsis

Kaneki disbands the hideout in the 6th ward and resolves to return to Yoshimura, not for a power to protect others but to reclaim the plain self he had lost. Meanwhile the CCG, having pinpointed the location of the SSS-rank target known as the owl, finally sets its owl extermination operation in motion. A vast deployment recalling the fierce battle of ten years ago draws veteran investigators from every quarter, each bearing gear etched with sorrow and steeled with resolve. The stage for this decisive clash is the quiet café Anteiku, in Tokyo's 20th ward.

The CCG launches its full-strength owl extermination on Anteiku, and overnight the 20th ward becomes a battlefield. Yoshimura reveals himself as the one-eyed owl and stands before the CCG to protect the shop. The Anteiku ghouls help patrons flee while clashing with investigators across the ward, and the casualties mount. Top-tier investigators including Arima are deployed and the tide turns brutally one-sided. Kaneki too heads for the field, and a reunion with Amon looms. The fight to defend a place to belong turns into a fight only to lose.
