Synopsis

As kids, the Nanba brothers saw a mysterious light in the night sky and swore they would go to space together. By 2025, younger brother Hibito has kept that promise, becoming an astronaut chosen for Japan's first long-term lunar mission. Older brother Mutta, meanwhile, has just been fired from his car-company job for headbutting his boss. Mutta applies to JAXA's astronaut selection program and clears the initial screening. The man everyone wrote off as a failure turns out to have real aptitude. Wrestling with envy toward his younger brother, Mutta decides he refuses to give up on his own life. Hibito keeps training for the Moon and needles his brother to keep chasing the promise. Two brothers begin reaching for the same sky from opposite sides of the world, and the volume closes with Mutta heading into the formal selection exams.
