Synopsis

While Nemu and Jekyll are busy with their usual soul-draining, they cross paths with a girl named Fran, who happens to be there by chance. Calling herself a scientist, she turns out to be hiding an outrageous secret. Meanwhile, Nico gives romance advice for the first time in ages and, in the process, rediscovers her own feelings for Morihito. Neither of them knows the other is under a curse, but the people around them start to move, and their relationship slowly begins to shift.

Fran is revealed to be a genius scientist who blows right past ethical limits, and her inventions drag the familiars into wild chaos. Through giving advice, Nico realizes her feelings are the real thing and can no longer suppress her love for Morihito. The two keep missing each other while steadily closing the gap, as everyone around them frets and quietly cheers them on. Kanshi and Keigo in particular set up small opportunities that push the pair closer. The volume ends with the mood tilting hard toward a confession, powerfully teasing a major decision in the next book.
