Synopsis

A fresh prophecy delivers an ominous pair of keywords: a "dog" and "raindrops" will bring disaster upon Nico. Morihito tightens his guard on rainy days, yet while out with the clueless Nico he is ambushed by a masked man in a dog costume. Morihito bristles with suspicion, but the stranger seems to already know Nico. Before long, Nico is spirited away by someone's magic, shattering the peaceful life at the Otogi house. The shadows creeping between the laughs grow darker as the story races toward revealing exactly who is hunting Nico.

The masked dog-man turns out to be an acquaintance from Nico's witch-school days. Her abduction is a calculated move to seize her enormous magical power, hinting at a faction called the Black Witches pulling the strings. Morihito unleashes his ogre strength, rescues Nico, and protects her, but it becomes clear the enemy is an organization, not a lone assassin. The prophecy's "dog and raindrops" carry both literal and metaphorical meanings, planting foreshadowing that later volumes repeatedly pay off. Beneath the everyday comedy, this is the turning point that reveals Nico's very magic is the story's spark.
