So Ichigo and his friends settle on an outrageous plan: to be launched as living cannonballs from Kukaku Shiba's firework platform, smashing straight through the barrier and into the city. But the training to control the spirit energy packed into the cannonball proves grueling, and Ichigo stumbles through failure after failure. Meanwhile, inside the Seireitei, a tense captains' meeting is held over the failure to catch the intruders when, for some reason, an ominous alarm bell begins to ring.
