Synopsis

With Aizen's rebellion settled for now, a fragile calm returns to the Soul Society. Their wounds healed, Ichigo and his friends say goodbye to Rukia and head back to the living world. Officially recognized as a Substitute Soul Reaper, Ichigo spends his days chasing down Hollows nonstop while pretending things are normal at school. Yet even as he settles into routine, his spiritual power keeps sharpening. Then a strange newcomer starts closing in on him with unsettling familiarity, hinting that a far larger war is quietly stirring.

The one approaching Ichigo is Shinji of the Visored. He senses the Hollow sleeping inside Ichigo and invites him to prepare for the coming Arrancar war. Ichigo distrusts the mysterious Shinji, but the ominous signs of Aizen assembling an Arrancar army in Hueco Mundo draw ever closer. Ichigo's own father, Isshin, watches over his son from the shadows, letting his old Soul Reaper face resurface. Beneath the school-comedy surface, two fuses burn: Aizen's scheme and the inner Hollow Ichigo can barely contain.
