Synopsis

Still without his memories, Light works alongside L to close in on the Yotsuba Group, where a circle of executives seems to be wielding Kira's power purely for corporate gain. To confirm the truth, the team plants Misa deep inside the company, and the person who approaches her sends the investigation in a dangerous new direction. Murder wears a business suit here, and the uneasy alliance between Light and L is pushed to its breaking point.

The Yotsuba killer is revealed to be executive Kyosuke Higuchi, who has become the notebook's owner. He kills rival company leaders by faking natural deaths, abusing the Death Note solely for promotion and self-preservation — a small-minded Kira. Misa, planted as bait, edges toward the core while L tightens the net with cameras and wiretaps. The memory-wiped Light genuinely hunts Kira, ironically closing in on himself. Higuchi shows how the same notebook becomes a wholly different story depending on whose hands it lands in.
