A weapon that vanished, a gimmick hidden inside a clock, people terrified that "a demon appeared" — one by one, Conan calmly untangles the crimes woven around him. In the later chapters the cipher "L-N-R" takes on real weight, and as all the players fall into place the story reaches toward a far larger mystery. Even in a boy's body, the detective's reasoning never dulls in this tense volume.
