Synopsis

Suzuki family adviser Jirokichi hatches an audacious scheme to capture Kaito Kid: he displays the legendary jewel, the Purple Nail, right in the middle of a Ginza pedestrian mall as bait. On the appointed night, with crowds massed around it, Kid glides down from the sky on a hang glider as promised. The duel of wits between the moonlit magician and the shrunken detective opens this volume, followed by a blazing case set among firefighters. Volume 61 stacks one tense, tightly plotted mystery on top of another.

Kid isn't after the Purple Nail itself but the mechanism hidden within the gem. Conan reads Kid's every move, exposes the switch trick, and stays one step ahead. In the firefighter arc, an arsonist's cunning method is laid bare, and a paper airplane left at the scene carries the message that seals the case. The clash between Kid and Conan ends without a clear winner, closing on a thrilling note of mutual respect. Jirokichi's plan fails, but the thief's true aim surfaces in the process.
