Synopsis

At last the target appears: Miyamoto Musashi. The swordsmanship of the man hailed as a sword saint transcends human limits, and Hanbei's group is cut down one after another before their blades can even reach him. As they are driven to the brink of death, another band suddenly appears, clad in the same grotesque suits. Who are these warriors who cross swords with Musashi without flinching? The identity of those gathered in Edo's darkness upends the fight.

The intruders are veterans who have survived the sphere's hunts many times over. To them, Hanbei and his companions are mere rookies and deadweight. Musashi's sword is fast, but they know that with coordinated numbers striking his openings, a blade can land. Hanbei watches their tactics and learns in his bones that brute force will never beat a sword saint. Stepping over the deaths of comrades, only those who balance fear against skill live to see morning. Musashi is not yet fighting seriously.
