Synopsis

Struck down by a high fever, Shoyo Hinata is finally forced off the court, and the Karasuno High volleyball club must face the final showdown with Kamomedai missing one of its key players. Hinata, who wanted this stage more than anyone, swallows the immense frustration of being unable to play and watches his teammates fight through a broadcast screen. The match moves on without him, yet Karasuno refuses to give up. What will Hinata find in that sight, and how will it fuel his next step? Without Hinata, Karasuno battles on through Kageyama, Tsukishima, Tanaka and the others, but they fall just short of Kamomedai's all-round power and lose in the quarterfinals. The bitterness of coming one step from the national summit settles over the players. Hinata collapses into sleep in the waiting room while his teammates quietly accept the defeat. The third-years' retirement and the generational shift are shown, and Hinata vows to grow even stronger. The story closes the high school chapter and leads into a new arc, with Hinata heading overseas in pursuit of greater heights.
