Synopsis

Volume 24 sees Zhao's two prodigies stir once more. Zhao's chancellor Riboku installs Houken as supreme commander and invades the state of Yan, and an ominous mood spreads across China again. This pairing of a peerless strategist and the mightiest warrior foreshadows the towering wall Qin will one day have to face. Meanwhile, within Qin, Ryo Fui climbs to the seat of chancellor, casting the shadow of a new battlefield, politics, over the head of King Sei. Martial force on the field and court intrigue accelerate at once, as both Sei and Shin step toward their next heights.

The Zhao army of Riboku and Houken overwhelms Yan, and their masterful command becomes known throughout China once more. Riboku's bottomless depth is emphasized, laying groundwork for the eventual showdown with Qin. In Qin, Ryo Fui seizes the chancellor's seat and builds a vast, merchant-state power backed by his Four Pillars. Sei, outwardly pressed by Ryo Fui, quietly firms up his footing as king. Shin, leading the reborn Hi Shin Unit, aims for greater feats as the three-way growth race with Mouten and Ouhon continues. Beneath the surface, the fate of nations moves surely toward the next war.
