Synopsis

As Rou Ai's revolt draws to a close, the story steps into the true resolution of Qin's internal unification struggle. Ei Sei and Ryo Fui exchange words directly over the meaning of the realm, and the two immense philosophies of king and chancellor collide. Shou Hei Kun races to a Kanyou hanging by a thread, and the Queen Mother's heart is deeply shaken. The feelings of Ei Sei, Ryo Fui, and the Queen Mother intertwine as the long power struggle inside Qin finally ends, in a landmark volume where the young king begins his march toward unifying the realm.

Ei Sei corners Ryo Fui not by force but with words, raising up the light within people to surpass the chancellor's vision of unifying China. Ryo Fui accepts defeat, steps down from power, and leaves Kanyou. Rou Ai is executed and the Queen Mother is confined, yet a faint sign of reconciliation between mother and son is shown. The long division within Qin ends, and Ei Sei at last holds full authority over the state in name and in fact. From here the story turns decisively toward the full-scale war to unify all of China.
