Kana, a girl at Shinichi's school, has an uncanny instinct that lets her feel the presence of parasites. That gift draws her toward dangerous individuals, and for reasons she cannot explain she senses something fated in Shinichi and grows closer to him. Shinichi worries for her safety even as his feelings waver between Kana and Satomi. Meanwhile the parasites move beyond scattered, solitary hunting and begin to build a new kind of war, slipping into human society as an organized pack. In this fifth volume the terror of the individual starts to become the threat of a hidden network.
