Synopsis

When Megumi Takani, a doctor who fled the opium kingpin Kanryu Takeda, seeks refuge at the Kamiya dojo, Kanryu's elite Oniwabanshu ninja launch a raid. Kenshin and Sanosuke stand against the grotesque assassins Beshimi, Hyottoko, and Hannya. As Megumi's secret and the cruelty of Kanryu's ring come to light, Kenshin resolves to storm the mansion to save her from the sins she carries. Breaking into Kanryu's mansion, Kenshin faces Aoshi Shinomori, the strongest leader of the Oniwabanshu. Aoshi matches Kenshin blow for blow, but his loyal subordinates throw away their lives one by one for their master. Losing his comrades ignites in Aoshi an obsession to defeat Battosai and prove himself the strongest. Kenshin defeats Kanryu and rescues Megumi, yet leaves the duel with Aoshi unfinished. The tragic tale of the peerless swordsman Aoshi begins to unfold in earnest.
