Synopsis

The rocket carrying Hibito at last reaches space. Gazing down at Earth through the ship's window and at the beauty of the Moon they aim for, the Maxim 4 crew take it all in anew. But there is no time to bask in the joy of arrival: on the lunar surface, trouble strikes the all-solid-state battery that is the base's lifeline. Mutta and Philip head out on an EVA to repair it, and in the thick of the tense work, an "urgent message" reaches Mutta as well. As crisis and hope surge in at once, the distance between the brothers is about to close. Can Mutta and Hibito truly reunite safely on the Moon?

⚠ Spoiler warning — tap to reveal
Hibito finally reaches space, and the childhood promise to "go to space together" takes on the feel of reality. But the story pulls no punches. The lunar base's all-solid-state battery malfunctions, and Mutta and Philip are driven out on a dangerous EVA. The "urgent message" that arrives then ratchets the tension even higher. This volume is the final run-up to the brothers' reunion, several missions advancing in parallel toward a single point. The trouble is left unresolved, yet readers' hearts race with the certainty that "the two will meet soon". A volume that draws anticipation for the next volume's reunion climax to its tightest.
