Synopsis

What does it truly mean to be "strong"? This volume turns its gaze toward Sasaki Kojiro, a swordsman born without the ability to hear or speak, yet gifted with an almost frightening genius for the blade. Where Musashi seeks strength through struggle and self-doubt, Kojiro lives in silence, letting his sword speak for him. Vol. 23 sets these two paths side by side, exploring the loneliness of talent and the quiet hollow that waits at the end of the way of the sword. Inoue's spare, breathtaking art gives voice to feelings that words cannot hold.

⚠ Spoiler warning — tap to reveal
Kojiro is taken in by the Sasaki household and steadily rises as a swordsman, his deafness making the blade his only true language to the world. His growth quietly foreshadows the fated duel at Ganryujima that awaits him with Musashi. Meanwhile, Musashi confronts his own weakness and pauses before the weight of the phrase "invincible under heaven." Two men questioning what strength really means draw slowly closer without yet crossing paths — a quiet, pivotal chapter.
