Synopsis

Volume 11 of Yotsuba&! arrives after nearly a year away, and it slips back into the gentle rhythm fans adore. Five-year-old Yotsuba tries making udon from scratch, waits breathlessly for a pizza, and loses herself in a sky full of soap bubbles, all under an autumn sky. Surrounded by her dad, Jumbo, Yanda and the Ayase sisters next door, an ordinary day becomes the greatest adventure imaginable. Nothing dramatic happens, and that is the whole point of Kiyohiko Azuma's beloved slice-of-life classic.

Here Yotsuba kneads udon dough with her dad for the very first time, ending up covered in flour but thrilled that the lumpy noodles are hers. In the pizza chapter she stakes out the front door, unable to bear the wait for delivery, and in the soap-bubble chapter she drags Fuuka and the others into filling the whole sky with foam. Watch for Torako mixing an enormous batch of bubble solution. There is no turning point, just a quiet autumn slowly piling up into one warm little book.
