Synopsis

Driven by nothing loftier than the desire to cop a feel, Denji throws himself into a savage brawl with the Bat Devil to save Power's beloved cat, Meowy. What he grabs at the end of the bloodshed isn't quite what he pictured. Surviving the fight, Denji is formally assigned to Public Safety and settles into an odd shared life with the reckless Power and their curt, competent senior Aki Hayakawa. Meanwhile, Makima reveals the true enemy of humanity: the Gun Devil, a monstrous force of pure terror. As nations scramble over its scattered flesh, Denji is pulled into a far larger current of fate.

Volume 2 settles the Bat Devil fight. Power betrays Denji to save Meowy, then joins him at the last second, and he shreds the enemy with his chainsaws; a strange bond forms between the two who share blood. Later, Makima reveals the Gun Devil once killed a million people in mere minutes and stands as humanity's worst threat. Governments fight over its flesh fragments, and if Denji hunts it, the reward could grant any wish. Friction with Aki, the arrival of Himeno, and a boy who fights fueled only by "ordinary desires" all quietly hint at coming ruin.
