Synopsis

The two-game series between the Tokyo all-stars and Team USA opens. Starter Yang Shunshin pitches well and the Tokyo lineup methodically breaks down the American arms, forcing the USA side to get serious and send monster right-hander Conrad to the mound. Under the unique pressure of the international stage, Miyuki, Narumiya and the rest of the selected players are put to the test. Meanwhile at Seidou, the battery of catcher Ono and Furuya, entrusted with the team while Miyuki is away, faces a practice game against Yamamori Gakuin, whose Kamiashi brothers carry the strength of a Senbatsu quarterfinalist.

⚠ Spoiler warning — tap to reveal
Team USA bares its fangs, and Conrad's overwhelming velocity gives the Tokyo hitters fits. Miyuki works as both catcher and the selection team's brain to read the opponents' attack. On the Seidou side, Furuya cannot fully work with Ono's lead, exposing how fragile an inexperienced battery is. Furuya realizes his pitches only come alive through rhythm with his catcher, while Ono is confronted with the gap between himself and starting catcher Miyuki. Running the international game and the domestic practice match side by side, this volume lays bare Seidou's core problem: its dependence on Miyuki.
