Synopsis

Utsuro, the immortal man, schemes to slam the Altana filling the Earth head-on into the Liberation Army's doomsday weapon and, with the resulting cataclysmic shock, erase everything along with the planet itself. The only way to stop his mad plan is to prevent the weapon from ever firing. Bearing the fate of Earth on their shoulders, the Kiheitai wage a ferocious battle in which they stake their very lives, and with unyielding feelings and old grudges in their hearts, one of them is about to meet a harrowing end. Hideaki Sorachi's late-stage clash is a weighty volume where tears and resolve intertwine.

Taking on the fight to stop the launch, the Kiheitai refuse to give an inch against an overwhelming foe, and Shinsuke Takasugi crosses swords with a fated opponent. To protect his comrades and pass on his convictions, one of the Kiheitai gives his life and falls, and that final moment cements the resolve of those left behind. At the cost of sacrifice, the weapon's launch is barely halted, yet Utsuro's immortality and true aim continue to menace the Earth. The grudge surrounding Takasugi, Gin, and Utsuro converges toward the final phase, and the story presses on into the last decisive battle carrying some of the highest emotional heat in the series.
