Synopsis

Having secured the alliance with Yo Tan Wa's mountain people, Ei Sei launches the operation to retake the capital Kanyou. The plan is audacious: infiltrate the rebel-held palace with a small elite force through a secret passage. Shin races through enemy lines alongside the mountain warriors, aiming for the throne room seized by the king's brother Sei Kyou. Outnumbered by far, they can rely only on surprise and individual martial skill. The domestic unification arc surges toward its climax in this tense third volume.

Inside Kanyou, the group is halted by monstrous rebel soldiers led by General Ran Kai, and allies fall one after another. Shin brushes death against fearsome foes but carves a path open through the mountain people's ferocity and wit. Cornered, Ei Sei finally faces Sei Kyou in the throne room. To Sei Kyou, who clings to birth and bloodline, Ei Sei demands to know what a true king is, and shatters his ambition. The throne is reclaimed, and Ei Sei stands as king of Qin in name and deed. Shin sets off for his first true battlefield.
