Synopsis

At the Maekawa dojo where Kaoru trains, a challenger named Raijuta Isurugi appears and crushes Master Maekawa with overwhelming swordsmanship. When Kenshin crosses blades with him, he senses a skill far beyond an ordinary dojo-breaker. Raijuta's ambition is to dominate the world of swordsmanship through his Shinko style. Raijuta preaches that a sword has meaning only when it kills, mocking Kenshin's reverse-blade vow as cowardice. To protect a cornered Yahiko, Kenshin finally takes up a live blade and faces him. Against the godlike speed of the Hiten Mitsurugi style, Raijuta's Shinko technique proves utterly useless, and Kenshin overpowers him completely. Yet he refuses to kill, showing that a sword can also give life. The man obsessed with the blade is defeated, and Kenshin's belief in a sword that protects is proven once more.
